The Holy Father's thoughts

1.

Use your tears for getting any forgiveness, because God loves when you pray with tears.

2.

If you can suffer, you will always pray with joy.

3.

When you think that you are helping someone, be careful not to harm yourself by forgetting about you own prayer.

4.

Those who gather sorrow and a desire for vengeance inside of them, and then they pray, they look like those who take water and then they put it in a hollow vessel.

5.

When you pray, pray only for justice, virtue and knowledge; the rest will follow. (Mt. 6, 33)

6.

The psalms make passion sleep and calm down a desire for physical experience; the prayers make the mind do an intellectual work.

7.

The one who can bear sadness, will be given joy as well, the one who can bear unpleasant situations, he will experience the pleasant ones as well.

8.

Be careful not to become a demon's slave when they attempt you.

9.

Greed for food bore disobedience, and sweets made people being sent from Heaven.

10.

An amount of something will make a vessel full, but a stomach will never say: 'It's enough'.

11.

A pillar leans on a ground, and passion dies by overeating.

12.

When an unrefrained man sees a woman, he feels impure passion; and when a wise man sees a woman, he celebrates God.

13.

When a man is meek, God would mention that, and his soul will become a temple of the Holy Spirit.

14.

He, who tolerates an angry one because of peace, is really the son of peace.

15.

He, who doesn't like demons, would be kind to people. But, he who hates his brother, made a pact with demons.

16.

Do not answer to those who threaten you, so that you can shut their mouth by silence.

17.

Shackles can prevent you from walking fast, and sadness can prevent us from consideration.

18.

The one, who detests this world's pleasures, will not mind thinking of sadness.

19.

Sadness is a disease of soul and body. The soul becomes its slave, and it uses the body as well.

20.

If you want to win sadness with a dark spirit, embrace the love and put the joy on you.

21.

The northern wind feeds the bushes, and the temptations feed the soul.

22.

A white hand hidden in breasts and a hidden deed shine more than a light.

23.

The one who seeks for honor cannot bear humiliation.

24.

If you measure yourself by small measures, you will not compare yourself with others.

25.

The one, who is estranged from God, suffers from pride. He ascribes good deeds to himself.

26.

A rotten fruit is useless for an agriculturalist, as well as a pride man's virtue is for God.

27.

Man, why are you trying to raise yourself above the sky, when you are only dust and soil?

28.

Be afraid of God and feel love for Him, and relate to others with clear conscience.

29.

Get away from commendations, but be ashamed of criticism.

30.

As much as you obey the law consider yourself being distant from perfection.

31.

Investigate the end of everything before it's beginning.

32.

Do not involve with someone who is, as you can see, detested by the good ones.

33.

No matter what you do, speak or think, be careful not to do harm to anyone.

34.

If we take care of ourselves, we will not judge the others. There are a lot of things inside of us that make us judge the others.

35.

Always remember God, and your mind will become the sky.

36.

Hide your virtues, but make sure that you have many witnesses of your life.

37.

If you have wealth - share it with others, if you don't, do not acquire one.

38.

Comfort the poor because they make the Judge be kind to us.

39.

When you are ill, before doctors and medicine, use prayer.

40.

Respect all the priests, but be close to the good ones.

41.

Valuate all your deeds by prayers, especially those you find suspicious.

42.

If you are assaulted, keep quiet, so that the shame could be made to the one who assaulted you.

43.

When the one who makes harm does not feel ashamed, then the wound becomes deeper and we feel desperate.

44.

When you talk to the saints ask them about spiritual things, but when you do not talk to them, do not ask about that.

45.

Do not take advices from someone who lives unrighteous life, because he loves bad things, and he cannot give you a good advice because he does not love them.

46.

When you start judging yourself that is the beginning of your salvation.

47.

It is better to hit a man with a rock than with a word.

48.

It is better to prove justice by deeds than by words.

49.

An honored man is not the one who was charitable to many people, but the one who did not assault anyone.

50.

Having a virtue is not considered to be a precious deed, but the very having of the virtue in the right way.

51.

If you want to please the crowed, you will become one.

52.

If you want a real life, always expect death.

53.

Be ready for troubles since you can get something useful out of them.

54.

The end is close. Be ready, you lazy boy, for whipping.

55.

Stand against temptation showing the necessary courage.

56.

We should refuse comforts because they make us cry later.

57.

Take the troubles patiently because there is a wreath for fighters in them.

58.

Do not cry for the dead because that is the common way. The one who reaches that kind of end is blessed.

59.

Always mention the Judge to a fallen friend and you will be given absolution as well. That kind of advice is a good medicine.

60.

It is hard for a godless man! When he comes in front of God he will not be able to say anything in his defense.

61.

It is hard for a lazy man! He will seek the time he spent in vain.

62.

It is hard for a pride man! When he finds himself in grave he will find out who he really was.

63.

It is hard for an adulterer who did not respect his marriage! He will be shamefully thrown away from Heaven.

64.

It is hard for a clamorous and drinking man! He will be equal with murderers and punished together with adulterers.

65.

The one who obeys the Law will be blessed! God will never abandon him.

66.

Courage is a virtue when there is a peace, but it is even greater virtue when there is a war.

67.

Following the Holy Fathers' thoughts do not judge their deeds, but understand their sayings.
